MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Our name “EMBLEM” signifies the Flag of the United States of America, which is preserved and cherished as a priceless possession.

Emblem began as a small group of Elk’s ladies meeting together in 1917 to wrap bandages for World War I. They enjoyed the sociability, and at the same time felt the joy of accomplishment. The combination of assisting others and enjoying good fellowship appealed to other women, and a community group came together.

As members of Emblem we are dedicated to performing charitable acts in our communities our State and our Nation. We take pride in giving back - by way of contributing our time, talent, money and other resources to improve the quality of life in our communities.

This is truly a labor of love… and we as members of this great organization are proud of our part in helping to build a brighter future for those around us.

Drug Awareness in Tuolumne County

The Sonora Emblem Club works with other Tuolumne County groups to educate our teen and younger population about the ravages of drug use and abuse. Emblem has supported the YES Partnership and the Friday Night Live program for several years. A new drug awareness program, Drums Not Drugs is the club's latest recipient of financial help.
Headed up by massage therapist and Sonora Community Drum Circle leader, Cindy Brewer, the program is working with 34 young people at the present. The program provides a musical, self esteem building activity for the participants. Each child completes an eight week course in learning about group drumming and singing. The group is a mix of adults and the youngsters. At the end of the course a drum is awarded to each graduate. The drums cost $60 to $70 each. Sonora Emblem Club held "A Touch Of Italy" dinner fundraiser to assist in the purchase of the drums. The meal was prepared free of charge by "All Occasions Catering" (209 499-7315) chef John Fisher and assistant Heather Carter of the Mountain Women's Resource Center. The diners raved about the fresh cannelloni and Tiramisu dessert. Any questions concerning the Emblem Club Drug Awareness Programs may be directed to Laurel Utecht at info@sonoraemblem124.com.
